Martin Simon, Andrew Lambirth and Jane Stevenson, Edward Burra (Farnham: Lund Humphries, ), p, ISBN 1 The first full-scale monograph on Edward Burra () accompanied an exhibition to stage designs for ballet performances, landscape and the natural world, and ultimately to his interests in spooks and spirits.   Set model by Edward Burra for Robert Helpmann's ballet Miracle in the Gorbals, Sadler's Wells Ballet at the Princes Theatre, Model with symmetrical three-dimensional tenement blocks to the sides of the stage, the details of the building painted on card glued to wood panels.

William Chappell (27 September – 1 January ) was a British dancer, ballet designer and director. He is most noted for his designs for more than 40 ballets or revues, including many of the early works of Sir Frederick Ashton and Dame Ninette de ality: British. The Edward Burra exhibition at Chichester's fine Pallant House Gallery is in its last week. It's a good place to view and think about this marvellously eccentric English artist. Burra was based in the nearby town of Ryde - he called it an "overblown gifte shoppe" - and spent his whole creative life trying to escape the deadening clutch of English gentility.

    Stage designs section.
